Post Up

When we added the comment feature to the site, Dom suggested that we had a "slow motion train wreck" on our hands. Well what the hell good is a train wreck when it happens so slowly that you can't even see it? Damn. I can count the comments we've had on one hand.

I've heard tell that the current process is "too complicated", and that it's stopping you from getting your comment on. Hey, if J-Wil and Freddie can figure it out, that argument doesn't really hold up to much scrutiny. If you ask me, I think you're just shy and laboring under the illusion that a lot of people will see the dumb stuff you write. Well, let me set you straight on that one. While we may have had north of 39,000 visitors in the last year or so, in this series of tubes that we lovingly know as the internet, that barely constitutes a heartbeat. Hell, I'm sure Tractor's MySpace page gets more visits than that.

But, in an effort to coax you out of your shell, we've turned off the registration requirements for posting a comment, so now you no longer need to create an account to vent your spleen. You can even post anonymously if you're a total weenie. Don't worry, you can still man up and put your name (or someone else's) alongside your post, so everyone will still know how funny you are.

So, dust off your muse and get to commenting. It all adds to the rich texture of the site.

Oh, and BTW, all the comments are still moderated, so all those nasty things you want to say about South Shore still might not make it up on the site. As before, funny trumps angry every time.

Practice tonight (10/19) at Riverton School, South Shore away this weekend. Get some.

I have nothing useful for you Tom, only a question. It looks like I'm being given somewhat of a free pass tonight and Saturday. What time is practice and will there be a B side Saturday?

Are you sleeping on the couch already Jim?
Practice is 6pm, and that's an affirmative on the B game.

Thanks Tom and no, she'd put me on the couch but it isn't good for my aging back. And for any of you who see a fat, greying wanna-be out there tonight, cut me some slack, I can barely tie my own shoes these days! Cheers Boys.

Well, I would like to comment about the recently concluded Currie Cup, the top domestic rugby competition in South Africa. The winner this year was... nobody. It was a tie. The Cheetahs and Bulls played rugby for a bit, were tied at 28, and they called it a draw. They are both apparently the winners. It may be un-PC of me to say so, but I think this is bullshit. Are they going to have joint custody of the Cup? If you are going to have a championship game, I think there should be a winner. I'm getting all worked up thinking about it, because its bringing all the silliness of soccer shoot-outs to mind. I mean, why don't they play tiddly-winks to figure out who the winner is if a soccer match is tied? A shootout doesn't resemble soccer at all! A better method would be that after regulation ends, each team has to take a player off the field every five minutes until someone scores. But I digress.

Would you guys put a drubbing on South Shore this weekend? I'm getting tired of reading Tom's namby-pamby "reasons not excuses" write-ups and would like to savor some of that smug and gloating opposition-baiting that he was dishing up so well last fall.

Erm...I can do excuses instead of reasons if you prefer.

"The sun was in my eyes..."
"He was in touch..."
"That guy's not CIPP'd..."

I think the Cheetahs get Wednesday nights, every other weekend and two weeks in the Summer with the cup.

Wondering why there was a change in the banquet?? Seemed like we were going to get a good deal from Willey and also get deals on rooms there was well. And I believe the voters really did not care whether or not the girls would be there. Don't think that should be the deciding factor. And why the Eagles club? I would bet that the spread from the unknown Eagles chef will not be as good as the Sheraton. I say we vote again.

Regardless of the semantics, lets lay waste to South Shore. We had a taste of the snarky reporting we old timers had grown used to after Springfield and we'd like more please.

Are we forced to the Eagles Club because their insurance policy is up or are we going there becasue they are going to take better care of us than Willey?

Doubt Jay would allow THAT to happen.

Would think that a Club member with a facility like the Sheraton at his disposal would be a clear choice for a Club event. Was the vote rigged? Were all the facts presented? Was everyone there to vote? Sooo many q's.

Now THIS is what I call a train wreck!

Woo! Woo!

After reading the comments, I think that it would be fair for the club to have the chance to decide which deal is better the Eagles or J Willey. Give us the details on both, lets us decide. Just my thoughts. Jimmy H

Just wanted to drop a line from Pennsylvania Amish country. You guys owe us a Christmas card or something for sending our former captain Steve Stewart, aka The Surly Canadian, up to you. Hell of a hooker and a hell of a teammate. Cheers from Lancaster, PA. www.rosesrugby.com.

I don't remember anyone asking my opinion. Why wouldn't we do it at Jays place anyway? I paid my dues and every vote should count! What kind of deal are we getting from the Elks?

Why can't we all just hit a Bong!

Sorry I started all the trouble. didn't seem like it was going to be this big a deal. The eagles will pour our beer that Richard gives us we get cheap drinks 2.75 Captains. Beers are cheap. We get a room that will hold 100+ plus a smaller room that will hold 60+ it on the 2nd floor away from the smoke. A full spread and both teams can be involved. It didn't seem like people cared at the vote. So whining after the fact is F*@3ED up. Nothing is set in stone yet I believe so lets let all the Anonymous writers have a vote.
